Description

Discovered upon scanning the paintings for documentation, the image on the left shows the surface that was exposed during the painting process in which Amato worked horizontally, using her body as tool. The image on the right is the result of the painting’s residue where the ink, acrylic and water poured onto the papers surface, became entrapped between the paper and the plastic protective floor covering. These works point to residue as signifier for the marks left behind, the psychological scars, the unseen affects of human experience.
